International Federation of Eastern European Environmentalist Journalists - IFEEEJ
IFEEEJ, is a network and international association founded in 2006. On the initiative of environmental journalists from Balkan’s countries and Russia, with the support of other journalists from 12 different countries. Our members are correspondents and/or member associations in more than 30 countries from Eastern and Central Europe. This network, directly and indirectly include more then 300 journalists associated with all type of media, scientific authors, filmmakers, etc. IFEEEJ work like non-formal group. NOW is in the process to establish legal status of the International association. The mission of IFEEEJ is to improve public understanding of environment issues and sustainable development worldwide by supporting environmental journalists internationally through networking, training and promoting free access to information. Especially for mentioned region.
OBJECTIVES: a.) To identify and contact with every national environmental journalists' organization and/or individual environmental journalist. b.) To reach out in parts of the region where national organizations of environmental journalists' do not exist, and assist colleagues in these countries to establish such organizations. c.) To support environmental journalists worldwide who are censored, imprisoned or harassed for reporting about environmental issues. d.) To work in partnership with other institutions in organizing workshops, training seminars, bringing out publications and promoting other activities, which fulfill the IFEEEJ mission.
